As someone who comes from a mixed race background (1/4 East Indian, 3/4 Caucasian), it can be difficult to navigate certain situations. One example is that I look pretty Anglo-Saxon, but I still identify with and celebrate my East Indian heritage. When I dress in a traditional sari or wear clothes that represent Indian culture, I look like I'm appropriating. Anyone have experience with this? Do I just say, who cares? Should I open a discussion with people? Let me know your thoughts.

I think this is a valid concern, but you also have Indian heritage. You dressing in their clothing is showing respect to that part of your family. Also having an open dialogue with people is always good.
